October 17, 20196 yr Hey guys, Just trying to spin up my first unraid server! It is booting correctly but i cannot see any HBAs or HDDs. I have a SAS9217-8i reported as a LSI2308-IT (as reported by the avago config util) and plugged into this i have 5 4TB WD reds. The HDDs spin up when the server powers on but i cannot see them in the unraid config anywhere. See attached pics. Side note, lssas or lslsi returns nothing in command. I appreciate your help in advanced.
October 17, 20196 yr From screen shoot, it show NVDATA mismatch, you may try reflash the HBA to fix it. Or provide Unraid diagnostic to further check what's going on. Edited October 17, 20196 yr by Benson
October 17, 20196 yr If the LSI bios doesnt see the drives then you're probably using the wrong cables (reverse breakout) you want forward breakoutSent from my NSA monitored device
October 17, 20196 yr Community Expert IT in on place, bit the other shows IR: Possibly a bad flash, still if no disks are detected in the HBA bios it's likely not that, make sure you're using the correct cables, you need forward breakout cables, reverse breakout look thew same but won't work in this case.
October 17, 20196 yr Author Ok thanks for helping out the n00b guys. Two things i learnt, the firmware mismatch and the cables can be different! I've corrected the firmware to 20.00.06.00-IT (making this now a 9207-8iIT HBA) and i'm ordering some new cables today and hopefully this will sort the issue! Again I appreciate the speedy help and I shall keep you updated on the cables.
