Hum ok, I think I don't need, I use value='IvyBridge' with my Ryzen 2700x. With patch For AMD, I get bad performance versus ivybridge ..

@ghost82 Do you Try VMXNET3 with Big Sur ?

My QNAP 5Gb work !! 300MB to unraid but it's not the best configuration I think (Unraid 10Gb to switch to BigSur (Unraid VM) with 5Gb ,, :D)

Erratum, crash again with my Qnap, very bad driver :(

Is it the QNA-UC5G1T with AQC11U Aquantia chipset?

Do you know which driver is loaded in mac os?

Can you specify what do you mean by "it crashes"?kernel panic?non responsive network?

Did you install third party drivers?

What is your usb card?Does it work properly?

Yep QNA-UC5G1T with AQC111U.

With MacOS (MacBookPro (2019) / MacBook (2015) / Hackintosh), computer (or VM) reboot when I transfer file (random reboot ...). I think it's kernel panic but without log.

Problem with native drivers (Catalina / Big Sur), pacific.kext from Marvell and Drivers from Sonnet.

I try another UC5G1T and same problem. Adapter work great on Windows ..

WMXNET3 work but ... 45MB UP / DOWN for me :(

We have big sur RC2 build 20B28 (full installer available): this is the final release and (most probably) the same version which will come out tomorrow November 12th.

Maybe smb is broken again, I can't see my smb server from big sur, nor connect to it directly (no issue with catalina)

So safe to update to Big Sur with latest OpenCore version?

I would say yes, use the latest opencore master, third party applications I use are compatible and apart smb (which seems to be only my issue and I'm working on it) everything is quite stable.

If you want to be sure make a backup of the disk first or install it on a second vm to test.

Thanks for the info. I just tried to update but it keeps saying an error occurred.

It doesn't seem "my issue", the kernel panic suggests a crap driver:

Should be ok now, the same issue was reported on several other websites.

I have the latest version of OpenCore and SecureBootModel is disabled, unfortunately the VM hangs while updating to Big Sur. I've tried both upgrading from within macOS and booting from the installer. It hangs when the system restarts and I need to force stop the VM, the boot picker does not show any other option but again boot into 10.5.7. When using the installer, it just hangs after about 10min into the installation. Any ideas what may be happening? The guide says for VMs ForceSecureBootScheme=true may be necessary, but only if SecureBootModel is enabled, either way I'm not sure where else to look into.

Since the Big Sur update I'm no longer able to pass through a proper topology. Has anyone else encountered this? Setting cores / threads to 1 and changing sockets instead to 4 works, but this doesn't perform as well.

If I set cores = 4 or threads to 1 or 2, for example, it just kernel panics on boot. Worked fine under Catalina and earlier though.

I have never been able to use a different topology with Big Sur all the way back to the first betas. Apple changed a lot here...

could you post your EFI folder or at least your config.plist? i have manage to change to opencore and and run perfectly from vnc but when passing through my 5700xt it start booting up good and at half bar it goes BSOD

i got the agdpmod=pikera in the config.plist args.. but is the only one..

ok ill inject the lilu and get my own bios.. did donwload from techpowerup

Hi, I see you have also a 5700 XT. Just a quick question:  How do you handle the reset bug? I use a script to reset the GPU after a force stop.
Any news there or a solution?

First boot with my 5700xt works fine, but after a restart or shutdown the card does not work. I have to start a different vm with the 5700xt assigned first, before I can use the catalina vm with gpu again.

Yeah, that is the reset problem. Hoped the fix would have been compiled into the kernel.

For that reason I use a script via CA User Scripts Plugin. The use avoids me from restarting the whole server.
It simply powers the 5700xt off/on and then you are able to reboot the VM.

Be sure not to simply copy the script, enter the individual PCI root for your card.
I use VFIO-PCI Config and it shows me the the PCI address of my card.

#!/bin/bash
echo "disconnecting amd graphics"
echo "1" | tee -a /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:0c\:00.0/remove
echo "disconnecting amd sound counterpart"
echo "1" | tee -a /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:0c\:00.1/remove
echo "entered suspended state press power button to continue"
echo -n mem > /sys/power/state
echo "reconnecting amd gpu and sound counterpart"
echo "1" | tee -a /sys/bus/pci/rescan
echo "AMD graphics card sucessfully reset"

I have a problem installing my 10 Gbe Intel Ethernet Card under VM mac OS Catalina 10.5.7.
I was able to passthrough the card via VFIO-PCI Config.

Bildschirmfoto 2020-12-07 um 19.37.55.pngThe card is prepared for the use with the SmallTreeIntel8259x drivers and it was running in my Hackintosh without any problem.

Unfortunately mac OS Systems does not show the card neither it loads the Smalltree driver, which is in /Library/Extensions.
As it is a PCI device, where should it be shown? It is not under PCI and also not under Ethernet-Cards.

What else can I check and do, to get this card on the run?
I checked that the card can be reset.

You can try moving the device to bus 00 in the xml. That usually makes the device look like its internal. Post your xml.

This is the part I should move up?

Another thing I though, do I have to put the vendor id 8086:10fb into info.plist in my SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext?
Update: Ckecked that, it is already in there!

Try this first. Since its one card this just both on the same bus with separate functions. We do this GPUs when we want to use the GPU audio.

<hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'>
      <driver name='vfio'/>
      <source>
        <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x04' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/>
      </source>
      <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x09' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/>
    </hostdev>
    <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'>
      <driver name='vfio'/>
      <source>
        <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x04' slot='0x00' function='0x1'/>
      </source>
      <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x09' function='0x1'/>
    </hostdev>

This second try will but the device on bus 00 which should make it look like a "internal" device to Mac os but on the 9th slot with different functions.
