October 19, 20196 yr Attached is a SMART report from one of my cache pool SSDs. I was alerted by the Retired Block count increasing from 0 to 1 and then 1 to 2 in the space of an hour or so and the Reported Uncorrectable count increasing from 0 to 7 and then to 20. The CRC error count is historical, due to a bad cable that I have replaced. Is the SSD failing, as I suspect it is, or it this normal wear and tear? If it was a magnetic disk I would be preparing to replace it, but with SSDs I'm not so sure. mandaue-smart-20191019-2159.zip
October 20, 20196 yr Community Expert SMART attributes are not so clear with SSDs, especially since they vary a lot depending on the manufacturer, it's not a good sign and I would probably replace it now, more so because I had a Sandisk SSD corrupt data when it gave a similar error, but YMMV.
October 20, 20196 yr Author Thanks. I have a spare so I'll replace it today and play around with the old one to see if I can make it fail.
