emod
Hello, How do I enable WiFi card on UNRAID and create wi-fi network? I want to create a wifi network on my UNRAID and connect to my UNRAID via wifi. I am running UNRAID Version: 6.7.2 on MoBo: ROG STRIX 8360-I Gaming. This MoBo has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac card. In UNRAID-> Tools-> System Devices I can see card as: Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless-AC 9560 [Jefferson Peak] (rev 10) But I have no clue how to create wi-fi network on my UNRAID. Can you help? Thanks (I do not know how to edit or regroup IOMMU) Below is a list of PCI Devices and IOMMU Groups. IOMMU group 0:[8086:3ec2] 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 8th Gen Core Processor Host Bridge/DRAM Registers (rev 07) IOMMU group 1:[8086:3e92] 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 630 (Desktop) IOMMU group 2:[8086:a36d] 00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH USB 3.1 xHCI Host Controller (rev 10) [8086:a36f] 00:14.2 RAM memory: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH Shared SRAM (rev 10) [8086:a370] 00:14.3 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless-AC 9560 [Jefferson Peak] (rev 10) IOMMU group 3:[8086:a360] 00:16.0 Communication controller: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH HECI Controller (rev 10) IOMMU group 4:[8086:a352] 00:17.0 SATA controller: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH SATA AHCI Controller (rev 10) IOMMU group 5:[8086:a32c] 00:1b.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH PCI Express Root Port #21 (rev f0) IOMMU group 6:[8086:a33c] 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH PCI Express Root Port #5 (rev f0) IOMMU group 7:[8086:a330] 00:1d.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH PCI Express Root Port #9 (rev f0) IOMMU group 8:[8086:a308] 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Device a308 (rev 10) [8086:a348] 00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH cAVS (rev 10) [8086:a323] 00:1f.4 SMBus: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH SMBus Controller (rev 10) [8086:a324] 00:1f.5 Serial bus controller [0c80]: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH SPI Controller (rev 10) [8086:15bc] 00:1f.6 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection (7) I219-V (rev 10) IOMMU group 9:[c0a9:2263] 03:00.0 Non-Volatile memory controller: Micron/Crucial Technology Device 2263 (rev 03) Edited October 20, 2019 by emod Quote Link to comment

For the first time in 3 years of using Unraid I need to use wifi to connect my server to my router. I am relocating, staying in an AirBNB for 2 weeks and would need to run a 200ft cable across the house to make the connection. I bought a mobo with a wifi card a while back just in case I ran into this exact use case; however, I didn't know about the Unraid limitation. @johnnie.black - Thank you for the heads-up on this. I was searching around, worried that my motherboard wireless just wasn't supported by Linux-- its an MSI X470 Gaming M7 AC. However, sounds like from this that Unraid has no drivers or capabilities to support a wireless card. For morbid curiosity - if I did want to get dirty and install iwconfig, drivers, etc. to try to use bond0 with the wireless card... Would that even be an option? It would be less headache to just buy the 200ft ethernet cable and have it running down the stairs than to try that, I have a feeling. Thank you! Quote Link to comment

Another option is a wireless bridge; wired connection from unRAID server to bridge which connects wirelessly to router. Quote Link to comment
mattz
Late reply on this one, but I went with the super long Cat5e cable (for $17. Thank you, Amazon) for making the connection. Much easier, cheaper, and more reliable for 2 weeks of use. Quote Link to comment
