Dedicating a 2nd parity drive from existing data array

Featured Replies

Greetings! New unRAID user here 😀I am currently migrating data via Krusader using the SMB protocol from my old Synology NAS (DS1813+) to my new unRAID server (HP Z820 Workstation). I currently have 3x 8TB and 1x 4TB drives with a 2x 1TB raid 0 cache pool in the unRAID server. (Cache and 1 x 8TB parity disk not assigned yet, only 2x 8TB), migrating 12 TB from 4x4TB and 4x3TB disks in the Synology. After the transfer, the plan is to preclear and add the remaining 4x 4TB drives from the Synology. The plan was to just stick with 1 parity drive, but I have kind of changed my mind a little and want to run with 2 parity drives instead. What is the best way to migrate the data on one of the 8TB drives with data after I've added all the disks? Is it as easy as to go on the share with all my data from the Synology, ask it to use only 1x 8TB and the 5 x 4TB disks and the array will start moving data itself?

Unraid never moves data between disks, you can do it manually or using the unbalance plugin.
