[Support] SpaceinvaderOne - Macinabox

Recommended Posts

I've been unsuccessful in passing through a 1070ti to a High Sierra install via this docker.

Can anyone who has successfully done this with an NVIDIA card let me know what you've done with Clover Configurator to get this working?

I've:

  • Installed remote software
  • Opened Configurator and check NvidiaWeb, ensured I was using 14,1 Mac model
  • Used the script to install the drives as SpaceInvader suggested

...but the install still doesn't see the card. The NVIDIA software is there and the drivers are installed.

I've had this card passed through to previous High Sierra installs using the "old school" SpaceInvader method, but I can't get Macinabox working.

Just coming into this thread...is your bios resolution the same as clover? that's required.

vnc back into macOS, edit clover resolution to match your monitors NATIVE resolution (under gui section).

Hit esc rapidly while booting back up so you get into the OVMF menu and change target resolution to match.

Thanks for the feedback.

Am I in the right place to set the resolution in Clover?

No. Force stop and then start the vm. hit esc rapidly on the bios boot logo screen to open bios settings. from there, go to device manager and change ovmf's resolution to match clover (1920x1080 default)

@neow scroll back to page 11 for screen fix info and you may need to change your network adapter to 'e1000-82545em' to get appleid working

hello thanks

first i tried 1000-82545em -> no network at all after this

then i looked at screen fix, this is way to much complicated for me but thank you sir

i will wait a macinabox for noob :)

Thank you

I found it easier to start the boot up to the

Then I found the OVMF setting as you has described.

It was set to 1920X1080  before I updated the CPU from 2 to 4

It was now set to 640X480.

Then I updated it to 1920X1080,

Then 'commit changes and exit.

When I go back to the OVMF screen the 'preferred resolution' is updated

ESC to exit

Restart

The first restart and I had he same 640X480 resolution.

I stopped the VM

Started the VM and good to go.

Checking back:

This shows up as Dual Core and 2 Cores = 4 Cores total

Hi,

Has anyone succeeded in passing a 5700 XT through to the MacInABox VM? It works great when I run it with VNC, but when I pass through my graphics card I get the Clover screen, then it glitches out when it shows the Apple boot screen and I never get a desktop. I've tried tweaking some options in Clover, but so far no luck. Any assistance would be appreciated if anyone has gotten this working.

Thank you

@newmember I had that same problem with the screen. A few bits of info had not gotten fixed in the XML. It's in this post:

These lines

  <os>
    <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-q35-3.1'>hvm</type>
    <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x64/OVMF_CODE-pure-efi.fd</loader>
    <nvram>/etc/libvirt/qemu/nvram/64fb8168-c7cf-4563-8466-30409f6c1da9_VARS-pure-efi.fd</nvram>
  </os>

should have been these lines:

  <os>
    <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-q35-3.1'>hvm</type>
    <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/mnt/user/domains/MacinaboxCatalina/ovmf/OVMF_CODE.fd</loader>
    <nvram>/mnt/user/domains/MacinaboxCatalina/ovmf/OVMF_VARS.fd</nvram>
  </os>
