November 16, 201015 yr http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148413 Free shipping. Promo code: EMCZZZT58 Not spectacular, but for those Seagate fans out there, I thought I would post.
November 16, 201015 yr I think Seagate scared away all their fans when they released those 1.5 TB drives. Does anyone know if these use the advance format? If so is there a jumper?
November 16, 201015 yr I think Seagate scared away all their fans when they released those 1.5 TB drives. Does anyone know if these use the advance format? If so is there a jumper? No jumper required. I'm going to buy one soon. I'm waiting until Black Friday to see if they go cheaper.
November 17, 201015 yr How much lower than $90 are we expecting these things to go? GREAT Question... I need to pop for some 2TB's very soon. I'm wondering if Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday we will see $80 2TB's? Wasn't NewEgg selling some WD 2tbs for $80 last week?
November 17, 201015 yr Samsung F4s hit $60 in a pricing mistake (should have been $80) and WD EADs hit $80 as well. I expect (hope) we'll see some deals below $80.
November 19, 201015 yr I love these drives, I have been running them for over a year with unRAID and have not had any problems. Thanks for the heads-up. I need some more for my new supermicro 15 drive case I just got. cc-
November 19, 201015 yr I have one of these as my parity drive, and it has been great. Write performance is very good for a "green" drive: 25-35 MB/s, depending on the drive being written to. It's DEFINITELY faster than my 1.5TB WD EADS drives. Those run at about 25MB/s. Writes to my 7200.11 Seagate 7200rpm drives run at 35-40MB/s. I'm very satisfied with this drive.
November 21, 201015 yr I love these drives, I have been running them for over a year with unRAID and have not had any problems. Hmm... Has such a horrible NewEgg rating... Such torture trying to figure out which 2TB green drive to go with... (at least where unraid is involved)
November 21, 201015 yr Newegg ratings can be very useful, but they can also have a high FUD factor. It is of course entirely possible that Seagate's quality control is still out of whack two years after their 7200.11 debacle. I think it's far more likely that there's a lot of residual hostility though.

Such torture trying to figure out which 2TB green drive to go with... (at least where unraid is involved) Both the 7200.11 drives and the 2TB LP drives had high failure rates in the past. I know the current 7200.11's are fixed. I feel pretty sure the 2TB LP's are fixed. But, the LP's continue to have known issues with power and vibration so for them use good psu and screw them down tightly.
