Getting MacOS VM running on X570 Taichi Ryzen 3900X

For the past few weeks, I have spent considerable time fiddling with the settings to get macOS (high sierra) runs on X570 taichi. I didn't try Mojave because of the lack of nvidia support.

Below are a few notes for others to watch out and save some time.

 

1. Must boot unraid in legacy mode. Make sure CSM enable and the rest. Otherwise GPU passthrough just show a black screen.

2. Make sure IOMMU is enabled, AER is enabled etc.

3. You may get AER error about GPP something, I managed to get rid of this by specifying pcie_aspm=off in kernel boot flag.

4. When I run the VM with cpupin and isolcpus, macOS VM will crash with kernel panic from time to time. Now I have completely get rid of all these pinning and isolation.  (also follow @leoyzen's advise that topology etc is unnecessary). The VM finally becomes stable. I do not know if this works around a AMD specific problem or a qemu bug.

5. Thanks to @leoyzen's tip, use imacpro 1.1 SMBIOS. Patch AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy following PikeAlpha's advice.

6. Getting a clover version to boot is like a hit and miss, so far I can only use a very old version clover or the clover image from @SpaceInvaderOne to boot. 

 

Below are the settings I used. As shown below, I have successfully passthrough: NVME, ethernet, GTX980 and raid card to the VM.

This is Unraid 6.8rc5 (although I started from 6.7.2 and upgraded midway). I have updated the motherboard BIOS to AGESA 1.0.0.4 yesterday but the system was stable even before that.
