Losing network connectivity

Recommended Posts

I am currently losing all network connectivity to my Unraid box after about an hour of not touching it. This is the LSPCI of my onboard NIC:

17:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation I211 Gigabit Network Connection [8086:1539] (rev 03)

I know there are MANY different things I would need to look at to see why network connectivity is being lost, but this is absolutely driving me insane and I'm not sure where to start. If I need to purchase an actual PCI network card I will, but that brings up the question of which network card the community thinks is most reliable with Unraid. This is the rest of my "lspci -nn" command:

Someone in another thread I found said to attach a keyboard and monitor to the Unraid box the next time it happens, but the thing is, I tried attaching a keyboard when it hung and Unraid is just completely unresponsive, so when the keyboard gets attached, it doesn't light up or anything.

Can someone help me pinpoint what's going on here? Maybe a log I can find that would hold information needed after I've had to reboot the Unraid machine?

Go to Tools-diagnostics and attach the complete Diagnostics zip file to your NEXT post.

Also, go to Settings-Syslog Server and configure it so your syslog will be saved where you can get it after rebooting.

For Ryzen you need to disable C-states or change "power supply idle control" in the bios, more info here.

Thanks a ton for pointing me here. I'm at work, so can't mess with the BIOS at the moment. Reading through those replies, it seems to be some BIOS configurations that need to be changed, right? Not Unraid settings?

In the bios, though c-states can also be disabled other ways, but best option is to use power supply idle control in the bios.

I think that possibly fixed my issue! I did a full BIOS update and then went through and disabled both of the options mentioned in the thread you linked. So far, my uptime has been 15 hours. I don't want to jinx it, so I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I sincerely appreciate you taking time to link me to the other thread. I had no idea AMD Ryzen builds were having so many issues with Linux.
