Hi,

 

I have a perfectly good CD/DVD drive in my Unraid server.  I want to share it (through SAMBA I guess?!?) so that I can see it from a Windows 7 machine... is this possible?  How do I then mount the drive in Windows so that I can use it as if it were a local drive?

If I use an Ubuntu live CD, boot from that and then share the CD drive over the network...

From what I understand Unraid doesn't have the required files to support a CDRom.

I've been pondering adding the support to SNAP to mount CD's.  My latest changes is to support flash readers with removable flash memory chips.  CD's may work the same. 

With your CDRom installed can you list the devices in your machine and post them?

 

ls /dev/disk/by-id

I know this topic is really old, but for anyone out there still wondering, it's pretty easy to re-compile the unRAID kernel.

When you get to kernel configuration (make menuconfig), just enable SCSI CDROM support...
