orionsafari
Hello, I'm new to UnRAID and I'm having trouble locating installation instructions. My USB disk arrived in an envelope with just a shipping invoice and the "Server Installation" webpage on the Lime site only discusses how to boot from USB. The UnRAID manual seems to have lots of useful information - but only for installed systems. I'm currently staring at the following lones on my screen: Welcome to Linux 2.6.32.9-unRAID (tty1) Tower login: I'm not very familiar with Linux and less familiar with UnRAID. Is there any documentation available for installation? Link to comment
joshpond
Welcome to Linux 2.6.32.9-unRAID (tty1) Tower login: I'm assuming that is what is shown on the monitor connected to the unRAID machine? Most people will disconnect the monitor from the server once everything is setup, just make sure the unRAID machine is connected to you router/switch. What you are seeing is the terminal With another computer you can access the tower by going into a web browser and typing http://tower OR http://{IP Address of your server} You then configure from there. mbryanr
Welcome! The configuration tutorial was recently written and is a good start. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Configuration_Tutorial#First_Boot If you get stuck anywhere...many here will provide assistance. orionsafari
Yes, that configuration tutorial is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Link to comment
fishface
IMHO, I think there should be a link on the lime-tech website under the 'Support' tab? It seem odd that you have to mouse-over 'Support' then select 'unRAID server installation' then finally select 'support' from the 'Home \ Support \ unRAID Server Installation' breadcrumb. wsume99
There are many other users who have made the same type of observation. Most of the useful documentation comes from the user community and not Limetech. That is probably why Limetech does not link to it becuase it is not "official". As an existing user I would rather see Limetech spend more time adding new features than writing documentation (which it appears is what is happening) however in doing so Limetech is probably losing some new users.
