November 20, 201015 yr Please see attached screen shots. Screen shot 01 was taken last week. Screen shot 02 was taken today. I'm curious if I should RMA this WD20EARS drive or not. Any advice would be appreciated! (I did install a jumper on pins 7/8 before installing it)

November 20, 201015 yr Attached are the smart_results that I've been collecting for the past week. i think the best way you can do is openning a case with tech support from Western Digital, send them your smart results and asking for comment. I will be worrying about disk sde, not because of those error counts (error counts for this disk at 20101120 doesn't look like abnormal) but the way error count rolling backward, might be signaling faulty PCB board?
November 20, 201015 yr I do have the same problem Mine went back from 25 to 7. In this post here JOE made some suggestion that maybe can help you. Mine are also WD20EARS jumpered 7-8. Let me know what are you going to do about it. Cya!
November 21, 201015 yr Author I submitted a ticket with Western Digital so we'll see what that have to say about it. Thanks for the suggestions!

November 22, 201015 yr Western Digital support said to RMA the drive. This is the second brand-new WD20EARS I am returning because of SMART errors. I'm now beginning to see the wisdom of investing in hot-swap drive cages... yeah....hot swap cage sounds great in this case, is a pain in the A** take a HD out when you have a few in the box. One question. Are you going to RMA the drive directly to western digital or to the dealer who sold it to you? Im asking because my drive is almost 2 months old and i ca not longer RMA to newegg =(
November 22, 201015 yr Author I returned my first failed drive to Newegg but this time I'm going to send it directly to Western Digital. I like the fact WD will send me a replacement drive FIRST, then I will ship them my old one after I receive the replacement drive. I had to give them my credit card number for this but there won't be any cost to me if they receive my old drive back within 30-days. Here's a link to their RMA page.
