Slow write to share from VM

Featured Replies

Hello all, I am trying to move ~17TB from FreeNAS to unRAID using rsync from a Ubuntu VM running within unRAID.

Currently I have 2x10TB HDD with no parity or cache.

I followed this comment to make the share accessible from the VM.

Running rsync from the VM running within unRAID to the unRAID share I see speeds around 23 MB/s.

If I rsync directly to the VM disk (which is also on unRAID) I get speeds of 90 MB/s +.

Running rsync from within Ubuntu subsystem for Windows 10 transfers are hitting 30-35 MB/s over the network.

Hopefully I am missing something obvious, it does not make sense to me that the VM can write to the VM disk so much faster than it can write to the Share since they are on the same system.

Thanks!
