December 6, 20196 yr Hi, I powered down my fully functioning Unraid server to take the last four discs off the motherboard and onto a recently acquired Dell/LSI HBA card. The reason for this move was that I simply didn't have a cable on hand at the time. The card was/is working fine with one cable (4disks) attached so had no reason to suspect that attaching the remaining 4 would lead to this. I've tried swapping disk locations in the server case to rule out backplane problems. I've tried swapping the cables around to rule out cable failure. Am I misunderstanding something? Does the parity disc need to be attached to the motherboard? As you can see from the attached screenshot, there are only 3 disks missing. If it was a cable or HBA channel problem, I would expect 4 disks to be missing?? My limited knowledge of the interpreting the syslog tells me that all 3 HBA's appear to be installed without problem. (LSI SAS 2008 mpt2sas_cm0/1/2). Is that correct? As always, your valuable thoughts gratefully received. EDIT; Having reconnected the top four discs back to the MB, all is well again. Still can't explain why just three of those disks won't be recognised by the HBA's Paul syslog.txt syslog mb connected.txt Edited December 9, 20196 yr by pm1961 spelling
