November 25, 201015 yr Hi! Neep help! I just bought a new disc (Samsung SpinPoint F2 EcoGreen Desktop Class HD154UI - not jumpered). My first data disc in the array was full, so I copied around 300 GB to a 1 TB Hitachi cache drive. I started the mover manually form the GUI and the syslog reported errors. I didn't precleared the drive manually because it's brand new. Looks like a few GB were copied from the cache drive but not all... Needless to say that the new drive is nearly empty. The share are all configured in the same way (Hight-Water and Split-Level 1). Nothing more. THX! Note: Attachment is in RTF. unRAID: 4.6rc3. Bye. unRAID.txt
November 25, 201015 yr Author Hi! To avoid any HD related issues I decided to preclear the disc. I did the following: 1. Saved the few files from the new disc to a separate folder on my cache drive 2. Stopped the array 3. Unassigned the disc 4. Starting the array without the disc (red point before the disc) 5. Started the script Now it is running and complained about nothing so far. Hopefully I get better results after reassigning the new disc after the preclear. Bye.
November 26, 201015 yr Author Hi! Preclear reported: S.M.A.R.T. error count differences detected after pre-clear note, some 'raw' values may change, but not be an indication of a problem 71c71 < 190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0022 085 085 000 Old_age Always - 15 (Lifetime Min/Max 12/15) --- > 190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0022 083 082 000 Old_age Always - 17 (Lifetime Min/Max 12/18) ============================================================================ Problem? Bye. You tell us. The drive temperature changed from 15C to 17C ( 59F to 62F) during the duration of the clearing process and was as high as 18C (64F) at one point. Does it sound like a problem? It looks to me like your server is in a relatively cool location and the fans are working blowing sufficient air across the drive. Joe L.
November 26, 201015 yr Author Hi! The same crap! Still got this message in the syslog and the mover wouldn't copy anything to the new disc. Oh hell...I don't want to delete everything and start from scratch. Any ideas? Bye.
November 27, 201015 yr You have two data disks. We know one of them does not have enough space for the file you are attempting to copy to, but we also know you have split level set to a "1" so unRAID is not permitted to use the other disk if a directory needed already exists on the first disk. A split level of "1" indicates it is OK for the server to create the top-most directory (Backup, Music, Photos, Video) if it does not already exist, but no lower level directory. You are apparently attemoting to copy a file from the cache drive that resides in directory /mnt/disk?/Video/Avatar/BDMV/STREAM That disk with that folder does not have enough space for file 00022.m2ts, so the move from the cache drive fails. to see the free space on each of your disks type: df To see which disk currently has the Avatar directory type: ls /mnt/disk*/Video/Avatar The solution is to change the split level, and eventually to set the "min free" setting on the specific user share. You probably have the min-free set to 0, so free space was not taken into consideration when it created the directory for the files. As an alternative, use mc to move the Avatar directory to a disk that does have free space. then the mover will be able to move the file from the cache drive. Joe L.
November 27, 201015 yr Author Hi! Thank you for your explanation. I decided to rebuilt the complete array and make it right from the beginning. I formated the USB drive and installed the latest stable version. Right now I'm preclearing all 5 discs at the same time, including parity and cache drive. Besides I will change the user share configuration (Movies = share name): Movies * * * Movie_Name * * * VIDEO_TS, BDMV, MKV, JPG etc. For that purpose a split level of 2 should be best and I will change from high water to most free. Following the logic of the split level the folder of the movie (Movie_Name) will be located on the drive with the most free space BUT the VIDEO_TS files or the BDMV structure will not split up between multiple discs. Hopefully this makes sense and is right. Thank you Joe. Bye.
