DU -sh takes a long time?!

I had my machine crash and when I got everything back on it took forever for du -sh to work.  I think that was because I was still booting up and then the parity was being re-checked.  That is fine but this morning parity is completed and now I notice it is taking forever...

 

It actually just finished but is there any reason it would run so slow?  The disks were not spun down.  I am still rsyncing now as I run the du.
