GPU Passthrough Quadro 4000

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

i try to test the gpu passthrough but cant get it to run. I am trying it on an old intel i5 (vt-d vt-x activated).

I installed a Win10 vm via vnc (i am able to ping and to rdp)

i passthrough the quadro 4000 (with and without vbios) but after i start the vm nothing happens. The VM runs but i geht no image on the displayport, no connection via rdp and no ping.

Has someone a clue what i can also try?

As always:

Tools -> Diagnostics -> attach zip file in your next post.

Also, since it involves VM, share your xml. If copy-paste, please use the forum code functionality (the </> button next to the smiley button).

On a side note, please kindly use the forum code functionality if copy-pasting stuff from Unraid (e.g. your IOMMU section and CPU thread pairing section in your original post).

Not everyone on this forum is young and has good eye sight (myself included) so it gets painful to read when everything is exactly the same size, font and colour.

Apologies for a rather late reply - I was looking to see the support level of a Quadro K4000 on the forums and came across this.

I use GPU passthrough on Unraid extensively using GeForce cards, and they all need a display emulator dummy plug to function.  The symptoms you describe is the missing dummy plug.  They cost a few £ on eBay and Amazon in the UK.  Just plug it in, and you should be able to see the display output.

Edit: Further reading suggests the 4000 is too old and may still not work.  Anything Kepler onwards should be fine.  You will still need a display emulator!
