Server cpu choice - dual e5-2670 v1 vs quad e5-4620

Hi folks,

I'm evaluating building a home server as a NAS, multiple user plex use with transcoding (open to adding a p2000 for plex if that becomes a performance issue at a later date due to volume). My focus is on flexibility and available resources for playing around and exploring different tools over the next few years. I am evaluating options and have found a used supermicro with dual e5-2570's and another supermicro with quad e5-4620s. Price is similar and I'm trying to find out which would be better and offer more horsepower. Passmark shows the e5-2570s as having higher scores, but I'm wondering if that is an accurate reflection of performance on the quad core, given the ability to assign cores to dockers etc.
