December 13, 20196 yr Hi folks, I'm evaluating building a home server as a NAS, multiple user plex use with transcoding (open to adding a p2000 for plex if that becomes a performance issue at a later date due to volume). My focus is on flexibility and available resources for playing around and exploring different tools over the next few years. I am evaluating options and have found a used supermicro with dual e5-2570's and another supermicro with quad e5-4620s. Price is similar and I'm trying to find out which would be better and offer more horsepower. Passmark shows the e5-2570s as having higher scores, but I'm wondering if that is an accurate reflection of performance on the quad core, given the ability to assign cores to dockers etc. Thanks for your guidance in advance.
