December 18, 20196 yr Hi all, I just upgrade to the nVidia 6.8 release build, and I don't see my cache drives/pool anymore. I have a 2x1TB SSD pool in raid1 which was working perfectly fine before this update. I installed the new release and now it's not there. All my other drives and files are present, but I can't get my cache pool back. Stopping array and checking the cache drives, they don't show up at all, just the 8 HDDs for my main array. They also don't show up under unassigned drives OR the missing drives (but one unassigned HDD I kept out of the array does show up) I went into BIOS and they're both there so the drives didn't suddenly die. Any help with this? Thanks!
December 18, 20196 yr Author It looks like my SATA card isn't being recgonized. I just realized the three disks missing (one more unassigned drive I didn't notice earlier) are all attached to this SATA card: https://smile.amazon.com/IO-Crest-4-port-Controller-SI-PEX40057/dp/B00AZ9T264?sa-no-redirect=1 I rolled back to 6.6.7 and the drives are there (all 3) and I added both SSDs back to the cache pool and the data is there and everything is running fine... Is there a compatibility issue with that controller/chipset? -edit- yup looks like this is the issue, the 88SE9230 Marvell controller has issues w/ Unraid... Will need to move my drives around, add non SSDs to my SAS card and add the SSDs to the native SATA ports .. Can I actually do this? Change controllers for my drives (swap 2 HDDs from onboard SATA to SAS card, and swap the marvell controller SSDs into onboard SATA ports? will that mess up any of the disk mappings?) December 18, 20196 yr Community Expert It's a known issue with those controllers, this can help sometimes: https://forums.unraid.net/bug-reports/stable-releases/disks-missing-after-upgrading-to-670-r536/?do=findComment&comment=4583
