Is unRaid right for my usage?

Featured Replies

Hi. I've been aware of what Unraid for quite a time but It's my first time trying to actually use it.

So I am planning to have somewhat reliable NAS, basic web server based on Ubuntu that does not draw much traffic and a gaming rig.

At first I was planning to get a cheapo server machine but unraid came to my mind.

I am currently using

  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
  • Asus ex A320 Gaming
  • 16gb Samsung RAM (8x2)
  • 250gb Crucial MX500
  • Sapphire RX580 4g
  • 600w PSU

If it's feasible enough, I am planning to run

  1. An Ubuntu 18.04 Server hosting A wordpress website, basic forum, and very basic portfolio website.
  2. If possible, NAS in the same ubuntu server.
  3. Gaming rig using Windows 10 that can run most of the games that RX580 is capable of.

Any suggestions? Will 2600x running servers and gaming rig at the same time be enough? Is 16gb of ram will?

Thank you!

NAS is the original and still a primary function of Unraid, the host OS for the VMs
