Unraid wont boot. Not sure, maybe flash drive failure?

Featured Replies

I have been having problems for the last 6 weeks or so and now Unraid will not boot. It all started when I noticed it was flashing "Starting Services on the bottom bar. I checked a lot of things that looked normal and could not find a solution. I am very new to Unraid and so I went to check forums for a solution. I noticed a post about something similar and it said it was a display error. Everthing seemed to work properly so I assumed this was it. I then had problems transferring files to and from my computers (plural). I was receiving a Windows Network error code 0x8007003b. I could a lot of the time transfer files if I sat there constaly pressing the “try again” button. I would run into a few files that would not transfer. I was busy and didn’t have much time to troubleshoot this problem at the time. I finaly saw that there was an update to version 6.8 so I thought this may fix the problem. I updated and the system seemed to boot fine. I updated the apps I had in dockers and this seemed to make the Services Starting in the bottom bar stop flashing and disappear. I noticed that I no longer had problems transferring files. I was excited until yesterday on Dec 23, 2019 and my background was white, not black. I noticed that there were many error messages and I could not start any Docker or VM. Both pages had error message and most said could not find file or folders. I new something was bad wrong and started to download log files and Diagnostics. I am including these. I now have no idea what is going on. Again I am a complete noob to unraid and pretty new to anything other than windows. I have made a backup of my flashdrive and thinking I may have to rebuild it. I am going to start getting a new flash drive and rebuilding from my backup but will not do anything with the server itself until I get advise from the community. Any help is much appreciated and Thank you very much for your time.

Flash drive has disconnected. Don't know if there is anything actually wrong with it though.

Are you using a USB2 port to boot? You should.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. I have seen that before when I accidently bumped the flash drive. This does look very similar to that. I have checked it and even moved it to a different usb port. I have only used it in a USB 2.0 port. I have tried booting at least 5 to 8 times with the same result, multiple cant find file or folder mesageskkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkm allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll=====aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa[]

I got it fixed. It turns out that the flash drive completly failed. I went and got a new one and installed a backup on it. I have my server up and running again with no issues. Thanks for the help and suggestions. I have never seen a flash drive fail that way, small things at a time. (on the last post i have no idea what happened at the end)

Thanks to the whole community.
