But if you have a need to hotswap a SATA drive on a running Linux system (as I often do), this utility works: http://llg.cubic.org/tools/scsiadd-1.97.tar.gz When I make drive images, it takes a lot longer over USB/FW, then native SATA.... so when I have to make a lot, it is faster (but still a PITA) to shutdown, swap SATA drives, and reboot, for each image I have to make. I just finished a series of tests, comparing md5 hashes for entire drives, and it worked flawlessly. Link to comment
