Anti-virus / Protection for unraid?

Featured Replies

What anti-virus or protection is there for unraid? How do you guys check/protect/clean your unraid?

The / short / glib / smart alec / true / answer for me is not using windows as my daily driver machines, and not forwarding any ports besides what some containers need.

Honestly, there may be some windows viruses hanging out in a file saved somewhere on one or more of my servers, but with no clients to infect, I don't really care.

I make all of my important files as Immutable on top of being set to read-only and owned by root.

Great! I got some reading to do.
So far I just been keeping everything offline other than the ports some dockers need. Then mainly downloading stuff to my main computer (which is protected to the best of my ability), then once files are checked/scanned, moved whatever I need to the unraid server.

Thanks for the info!

Can you give a brief description on how you do this?

Just a small tip, having seen this a few times where users (and sometimes sysadmins) are a bit puzzled by immutable.

If you do change attributes to immutable - be sure to remind yourself which files you changed and how to undo it. Never fails if you don't, in a few months you'll be trying to remove those files and will find it surprisingly challenging.
