December 29, 20196 yr Hello all. I been messing with video card passthrough, I have a boot nvs300 and a 710 gt to passthrough, the GT sucks reason it was so cheap and pcie 1x and the nvs is ancient and doesent even video out ( I use it cause it is tiny and allows airflow. I have another 8400gs I install if I need console access) That said I just wanted to get some ideas on upgrade for passthrough videocards. I heard AMD cards are better for it, how come? I am thinking of getting a new video card for passthrough. Is there any out there that allow me to share it with more than one VM ? ( iirc I heard that nvidia server cards can do something like this? ) and what you all recommend for the cheapest card that can handle no gaming but 4k video and multiple videos being played at the same time, think 4-6 1080p videos at once. ( the 710GT CAN not even get clo0se to this, I didnt think just play back would be an issue ) Lastly is there an easy / simple way to do this with only one card in the server? Thanks!
