One share assign to 1 disk, parity?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I just installed Unraid and after some configurating a question dawned on me.

Currently i have unraid setup with one drive, no parity yet as this is for testing purposes.

I have setup one share for my VM storage and that share has Disk 1 as only "included drive", when i add a parity drive, will my VM storage share be recoverable with the parity drive? Since the share only has Disk 1 included.

Parity doesn't protect/recover on a share by share basis, it's on a disk by disk basis, and all disks on the array are protected by it, if parity exists, include/exclude are just for shares to be on one or more disks.

Thanks!

So i guess the "disk include" option decides how large that share is right?

Basically yes, it sets the disks that share can use, provided they have available space
