USB Flash Failed No Backup - Dual parity recovery

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My USB Flash drive died and I did not create a backup before my system shut down. USB is unreadable.

I've read all previous posts and understand the recovery process if only one parity drive is involved, but I have two.

Please help guide me through the process of reassigning drives without any data loss.

I do know the previous configuration thanks to the array health reports, as below. (I replaced the last three serial digits just in case there's some privacy reason I shouldn't be showing it).

Event: Unraid Status
Subject: Notice [FILES] - array health report [PASS]
Description: Array has 7 disks (including parity & cache)
Importance: normal

Parity - WDC_WD121KRYZ-01W0RB0_8DGJ1XYZ (sdb) - standby [OK]
Parity2 - WDC_WD121KRYZ-01W0RB0_8DGJMXYZ (sdd) - standby [OK]
Disk 1 - WDC_WD121KRYZ-01W0RB0_8DGJNXYZ (sdg) - standby [OK]
Disk 2 - WDC_WD121KRYZ-01W0RB0_8DGJ4XYZ (sdh) - standby [OK]
Disk 3 - WDC_WD121KRYZ-01W0RB0_8DGHLXYZ (sdf) - standby [OK]
Disk 4 - WDC_WD121KRYZ-01W0RB0_8DGE1XYZ (sde) - standby [OK]
Cache - Samsung_SSD_850_EVO_500GB_S3PTNF0JB867XYZ (sdc) - standby [OK]

Parity is valid

Thanks!

If you know the assignments just assign them all as they were and check "parity is already valid" before starting the array.

Thanks for your help! Everything came up okay. Will run a parity check to be sure.

Thanks again :)
