Raid controller for hp Proliant DL380E G8

Featured Replies

Hi
I have a HP Proliant Dl380E g8 it has on its back plane of 12 3.5" hard drive bays plus 2 extra sata ports on the back. They are labelled port 13 and port 14.

I am after a raid controller and expander that will work. I dont know much about raid controllers. Just what I have been reading.

I think I am looking at a hp h220 lsi SAS card.

Hi just reading this and have a DL380e G8 with 12LFF backplane, i have a P420 running in IT Mode and it sees all the drives but the fans spin at 36% permanently. Ive read this is an issue with the 12 LFF backplane and the P420.

So im wondering if you have this issue with your H240?

Thanks

Hi AndyToots

Yeah i had a problem with my fans spinning. The noise was like a Boeing 747.

I ended up modding my fans with Tmxpro mod. See the link below for more information. Now its great. I have been running it for 30+days without any problems. Cpu around 45c hard drives have been cool.

Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like a good solution but not sure about the longevity of it. How do you control it is it a manual thing to set the fans at a certain speed etc?

Also ive read that the issue with the fans is only on the 14 LFF model not the 8 LFF i may just switch to the 8 LFF.

Thanks

Andy
