January 8, 20206 yr Hey I had a second parity drive as an external HDD. I acidentaly connected it to a linux VM with the hotplug Usb plug-in. I checked the disk with the disk utility on Ubuntu and then I noticed it was my Parity drive. Upon shutting the array down I tried putting it back into the array. It now gives me a disabled error. Did the disk utlity make a write on my parity drive and compromise it? Or can I get it back into the array? I would hate to have to rebuild it.
January 8, 20206 yr Community Expert If you re-enable it you'd need to run a parity check since there could be sync errors, so might as well re-sync it, stop array, unassign it, start array, stop array, re-assign it, start array.
January 9, 20206 yr Author I tried doing a parity check and it still shows the X on the second parity disk. I removed it then added it back and now its rebuilding it. Bummer, well I guess I will rebuild it luckily I have 2 for redudency incase I get a drive failure during rebuild.
