Odd issue when trying to look at logs - pop up login window - not sure if bug

Featured Replies

I use Mac OSX, and running 6.8 Unraid - noticed a strange thing today - if I click on the log icon on the menu bar, a new window pops up which asks me to authenticate using the new Unraid logon window. Once authenticated, I see the Unraid gui again. If I click on the log icon in this new window, it then shows me the logs.

Only happens in the Safari browser - chrome works fine.

I've encountered this on iPad as well. Cannot recall if it's restricted to Safari.

AFAIK this issue is only in Safari. I can confirm that FireFox definitely does not have this problem. In Safari I have only had to log in again one time. Subsequent attempts to view the log don’t require a login as long as I don’t close the main window.

I’ve just verified this issue exists on Chrome on iOS (iPad). Unraid 6.8.0

I believe that all browsers on iOS use Apple’s WebKit as the underlying rendering engine so that may well mean all iOS and iPadOS browsers will have the same issue.

Makes sense

I can also clarify it's an issue when attempting to access VM log files, as well as the originally reported system log file accessed via the menu bar.

Happens on my MacBook Pro 16 in Safari. I mentioned it a while ago either here or Reddit and people basically just thought I was dumb or something. Its fine in Chrome on my Windows 10 VM though :)

I can also confirm this bug. It occurs in Safari on macOS and iOS. While on macOS you get to see the popup the second time, on ios you hang in a continuous loop.

Did this ever get resolved? I also see the same behaviour on viewing Docker logs and consoles.

Click the link once and it'll open a pop-up window with a login prompt.

Click it again and the pop-up will display what it should have the first time.

That's a workaround.

I don't think there's a fix.

Thats really a pity that there is still no fix for this. The user comfort suffers but extremely if you do not want to use chrome. :(

This is still a problem on iOS 15.

Can’t for example open any log page (scripts or system).

This needs to be resolved, if it’s a webkit thing then open a normal page instead…
