December 1, 201015 yr I have one specific drive that stays spun up. My WMC on my HTPC is set to display photos and video on that drive. I am wondering if WMC "polls" the drive and is keeping it spun up?

I am wondering if WMC "polls" the drive and is keeping it spun up? More than likely that answer is yes. WMC is probably checking for new photo's in the background or something like that and it keeps the drive from spinning down.

December 1, 201015 yr Yes it does. I haven't found anything to stop it. Cache directories does not seem to help for me but you can still try it. Peter

Yes, but it might eventually help if WMC begins to just watch for new files once it finshes the in-depth scan. I never leave it running long enough to know if this will happen or not. Peter
