[Solved] SMART Warnings on 2 new disks

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Beginning December last year I built a new unraid server with 2 new 8TB disks. 1 Parity and 1 data disk. When the parity check runs its showing errors and SMART is also showing errors.

I have executed the SMART extended health check on both disks. After a few hours the parity disk SMART check says "Errors occurred - Check SMART report" and Disk 1 completes without errors.

The only thing I changed on the new server, mid December was swap out the motherboard to have more SATA ports.

I have attached the log files for the 2 disks.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Ruaan

Not a good sing in a disk with 996 power on hours, but SMART test passed, so it's OK for now, if that keeps increasing you might want to replace it.

This one is much worst, and it failed the SMART test, so it should be replaced now.

Thanks for the response. Appreciate it.

I'll replace the parity disk. Its still under warranty so hope to get it replaced.

Just an update on this.

Took the disk back and the store tested it. The results came back and the disk is dead.

I'm marking this thread as SOLVED.
