SOLVED-ED Files unprotected after SteamCache installation attempt

Featured Replies

Was having some issues on a local computer with downloading Steam updates and attempted to configure the unRaid server to be used as my SteamCache (unsuccessful), not sure if some permissions were changed or what happened, but now most of my shares is showing as unprotected.

unRaid Version 6.8.1

Motherboard: Asus A68HM-K

CPU: AMD A6-5400K (old as hell, but still works)

Memory: 32GB

Drives:

1x10TB (parity)

3x6TB

2x2TB

1x240GB SSD (CACHE)

unassigned 3TB (will be removed due to unreliable SMART)

That's normal for any shares with files on cache, since you don't have a redundant cache pool.

Shares will show as unprotected if you only have a single cache drive and there are files belonging to a share on the cache drive.

How were you doing the download you mentioned?   Was it via a mechanism (e.g. docker) that can by-pass the User System?  Since most of what look like your media share are set to Use Cache = No if you do get files on the cache belonging to a User Share mover will take no action and they will be left there.   Perhaps you should look at what folders are on the cache drive to see if they correspond to User Share you want to be on the array?  If you want files to be moved from cache to array by mover then the Use Cache setting needs to be set to Yes for those shares.

used to have the shares on the cache drive, but moved them off it.

All those unprotected shares have at least a folder on cache, e.g., movies share:

# Share exists on cache,disk1,2,3,4,5

folder cache, you're correct. No files except the folder trees.

Thank you :)
