Write errors on one disk/ No apparent smart errors

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Yesterday I got some write errors on one drive and I got the message, drive disabled, content emulated.

I ran a short smart test and a long smart test and the drive returned that it was fine.

I successfully rebuilt the content of the drive overnight with the same drive.

After that, I tried to add more data to the drive and the drive threw more write errors.

I am a bit at a loss here.

Is the controller LSI9207-8i shot or is the drive bad despite no smart errors ?

Here are the diagnostics.

Can you please have a look and let me  know what you guys see ?

Swap cables/slot on that disk with a different one, then see if issue persists and if it follows the disk or not.

I swap cables and the location of the drive wit the controller, same issue...

Should I conclude that the drive is dying/dead despite not reporting issues in Smart ?

Most likely, some issues are not visible on SMART.
