(Solved) No hard drives

Featured Replies

Hey!

Recently upgrade to 6.8.1 and now having an issue after a reboot. None of my drives plugged into my RAID card are being seen by the OS. When I go into the raid card software all drives are found. Have re-seated the card. Still no luck.

Thanks!

Tony

It's a problem with the HBA, but one I've never seen before:

Jan 14 19:26:34 NASA kernel: mpt3sas version 26.100.00.00 loaded
Jan 14 19:26:34 NASA kernel: mpt3sas 0000:01:00.0: can't disable ASPM; OS doesn't have ASPM control
Jan 14 19:26:34 NASA kernel: mpt2sas_cm0: 64 BIT PCI BUS DMA ADDRESSING SUPPORTED, total mem (32850464 kB)
Jan 14 19:26:34 NASA kernel: mpt2sas_cm0: unable to map adapter memory! or resource not found
Jan 14 19:26:34 NASA kernel: mpt2sas_cm0: failure at drivers/scsi/mpt3sas/mpt3sas_scsih.c:10684/_scsih_probe()!

Make sure you're using latest bios for board and firmware for the HBA, you can also try a different PCIe slot if available.

Hello,

I will update the BIOS when I get home. Just noticed I am running a VERY old version (Thank you).

On a side note, in testing i went back to 6.8.0 and the server and all drives came up correctly.

More updates to come later!

Hello Everyone,

As I said in a past post, i was able to get the server up by downgrading to 6.8.0.  I have now updated the BIOS to the newest version.

When I reboot now, once again no hard drives founds. New log files attached.

Same problem as before, looks like an issue with this kernel release and the LSI on your board, but can't tell you were the fault is, the board, the kernel or the LSI driver.
