slow transfer speed

Featured Replies

i have 3 pcs connected via a gigE switch. they are all also gigE capable. for some reason the main pc i use is no longer transfering at a decent speed. i used to be able to pull files from the server to it at around 35MB but now for some reason it wont go above 2MB. the other 2 machine are still running fine so i know my switch and server is ok. i tried reinstalling the drivers and even windows altogether but still no luck. i also switched the network cable to be sure it was not that. im thinking it must be a hardware issue but is there anything else i should be checking for

is there anything else i should be checking for

Viruses.  Bad port on the router.  Bad network interface on the PC.

hmm i just did a fresh install so i dont think i have any viruses and i tried changing the ports on the switch a few times. i guess the only thing to try now would be a pci network card

I actually got this same issue recently (netgear DGN3500), rebooted modem/routed, reinstalled windows etc.

All other pcs connected to switch xferred super fast except home pc.

I tried to update my modem firmware etc (which failed) and only way i could get top speeds again was to use separate gigabit switch.

Now i have just left that arrangement in place.
