January 20, 20206 yr Just a quick and simple question. I would like to start fresh with unRAID (Install fresh copy of unRAID on USB) I currently have a existing unRAID array with lots of important data on it and I'm wondering on the new fresh copy of unRAID I install can I assign the disks (array + cache disks) without losing any data stored on the array and cache disks.
January 20, 20206 yr Community Expert You can, assign all the disks to their original slots and check "parity is already valid" before starting the array.
January 20, 20206 yr Do you mean JUST the parity disk assignment needs to be correct? The other disks will be aok as long as you assign the right disk as parity won't they?
January 20, 20206 yr Community Expert The data disks might be assigned in a different order, no data would be lost, but parity2 wouldn't be valid if installed. Danger for your data would be to assign a data disk as parity.
