Transfer to new server

Featured Replies

HI All,

Relative newbie to UnRaid here, and im probably making a mountain out of a molehill with this one.

I have a basic license unraid server with approx 1.5TB of data on - its rubbish, it was built as a tester and doesnt meet requirements so I have built a new machine.

My question is, if i build the new server - put the old drives in - transfer the USB key would it all still work? or would i have to build new server with clean drives and a trial unraid key - transfer the data then swap over my licensed USB pen?

Sorry if this is a really basic question!

Thanks

Adrian

In principle it should just work :)

Only caveat would be if the disk controllers on one of the machines is nor a standard HBA and is not presenting the drives in the same way on both machines.
