[support] Vaultwarden (formerly Bitwarden_rs)

IMO, wait until SSO is supported fully in the main fork.

The better idea is to use VPN back to your server. I can't really find evidence of anyone using third-party SSO successfully long term with VW - as I'm sure you also must have realized while searching.

@Espressomatic I don't feel like waiting since the PR was submitted back in September of 2023... LOL

I already use wireguard with my opnsense (road-warrior always on full tunnel) and vaultwarden is locked down to trusted internal IP ranges with NGINX. I simply want to add an additional layer of security with MFA and bring it into my existing pool of apps within Authentik for a single IdP / Auth provider ;-)

Thank you for the excellent tutorial—it was very helpful and well-instructed.

I do have a couple of questions I hope you can clarify:

Password Field: Am I free to use any password (Password........., Confirm Password..........:), or is it required to use the Admin token specifically?

Admin Token Visibility: I noticed that even after using the hash key on the admin page, the same admin token appears in the Docker environment section. Could this potentially pose a security risk?

I appreciate your guidance and support, and I look forward to your insights.

Best regards,

Hey all! (Happy Labor Day!)

So my instance of Bitwarden (BW) took a dump - server too.

I am able to see the db file in appdata>Bitwarden_rs. But since I was self hosting BW, I cannot access that db anymore.

My ask is to Import that data into my new Vaultwarden docker.

Better yet, my FireFox browser Extension for BW has everything in it and I would love to grab all that data.

Only thing is FF extension will not let me at the stuff in my Organization I created.

Any thoughts on how to retrieve/restore all that data would be graciously accepted!

Thanks much everyone!

I have Vaultwarden installed but the Unraid app store thinks its not installed

i have uninstalled and re-installed 2x

no matter what its not recognized as installed

and as a result i never get any of the updates

why would this happen to only this app

I have not changed anything with the registry or icons or any of that

simply set the local folder mappings for my needs

Repository: vaultwarden/server

Registry URL:https://hub.docker.com/r/vaultwarden/server/

Icon URL:"http://[IP]:[PORT:80]/admin"

WebUI:http://[IP]:[PORT:80]/admin

(i used quotes above so it does not show the icon instead of the address)

Hi,

I’m encountering an issue with the Vaultwarden File Send download option. Whenever I attempt to send files, the process works as expected. However, when I try to download those files on my Unraid setup, I receive the following error:

An error has occurred. NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.

What’s unusual is that I’m using the same settings on two different environments:

  • On my Raspberry Pi, the File Send download feature works without any problems.

  • On Unraid, however, it consistently fails with the error above.

Since the configuration is identical, I suspect this may be related to differences in the underlying environment or networking setup on Unraid.

Has anyone experienced this issue before, or do you have suggestions on what might be causing the discrepancy?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

FYI as of the latest version of this you can enable mobile client push notifications (basically live sync to your phone)

https://github.com/dani-garcia/vaultwarden/wiki/Enabling-Mobile-Client-push-notification.

Add the variables to the docker template mentioned above, and restart the container. After that, re-install your phone app. Kind of a pain but well worth it to not have to sync manually any more.

Thank you for this. I wasn't putting the information in the Key field and didn't know what else to do. I don't dabble much in the configs of the docker variables.

I just checked my edit page for Vaultwarden (latest Version) in Unraid and I don't have any settings for Push functions, like in the above screenshot. Does anyone have an idea, why that is?

You have to add them as variables.

Go in to your vaultwarden docker settings and at the bottom, click "Add another path, port, variable..."

Fill out the fields like below. Repeat again for the "PUSH_INSTALLATION_KEY". Once you've done that, click apply which will restart the docker, you should see these two new fields in the logs it spits out while restarting. Then from what I've read, you'll need to delete the bitwarden app on your mobile device and re-install it and log in.

You'll know the settings are in there when you can go to your vaultwarden admin page, settings, read-only config and see those two fields now have those values in them.

Maybe a fresh set of eyes is what I am missing. I have followed the Vaultwarden integration instructions found here:

Integrate with Vaultwarden

I have basically followed every step to the letter but Vaultwarden still directs to it's default login page. Notes on my current setup: Running Vaultwarden (2026.4.1) as an Unraid container. Your time and assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Peter
