December 8, 201015 yr I am looking for m-ITX board, with IPMI, and *not* an Atom or Geode CPU. SuperMicro ITX boards have IPMI, but they are all Atoms.... I need more horsepower for this project. Suggestions?
December 8, 201015 yr I've never seen a board that fits your requirements. It seems that SuperMicro is one of the few companies that actually integrates IPMI into their boards ... and as you're already aware, all of SuperMicro's MiniITX boards are Atom boards. I did, however, find the following board: Intel BOXDQ45EK It doesn't have IPMI, but it does support Intel's vPro technology. I haven't used vPro, so I cannot say how similar or dissimilar it is to IPMI. The other thing about this board is that it's a socket 775 ... so you'll have to use a Core 2. For now, I think this is the closest you're going to get to a socketed MiniITX board that supports remote management. Don't know what you're timeline for this project is ... however, a bunch of new boards will be released at the beginning of 2011 with support for 'Sandy Bridge'. Chances that any of them will integrate IPMI? ... probably pretty slim. On a side note, I wish Newegg would add 'Integrated IPMI -- Yes/No' into their search functionality.
December 8, 201015 yr On a side note, I wish Newegg would add 'Integrated IPMI -- Yes/No' into their search functionality. I swear you used to be able to...when doing a 'power search' for server motherboards, there used to be an option for 'remote management'. The problem with that was that IPMI wasn't always called remote management by the manufacturer, so that search criteria wasn't too helpful. Maybe that's why they got rid of it.
December 9, 201015 yr SUPERMICRO MBD-X8SIL-F-O Xeon X3400 / L3400 / Core i3 series Dual LAN Micro ATX Server Board w/ Remote Management http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-182-211&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo
December 10, 201015 yr I am looking for m-ITX board... SuperMicro ITX boards have IPMI, but they are all Atoms... All their ITX boards are Atoms. The closest thing you'll find is the micro-ATX X8SIL-F. You can purchase an IPMI card separately, but I don't know if they're compatible with non-Supermicro boards.
