Unraid install boots to Bios

Featured Replies

Setting up a new unraid server, an i7 machine with gigabyte ga-z1z0x-ud5 motherboard.  Have tried several USB drives, even one I know works on my other server.  Tried several ports and settings in bios still just boots to bios.  If I try to take the force boot option in bios I can see the unraid first screen for a second before it brings me right back to bios.

Does it work booting Unraid on your other server?

Are you trying to boot in legacy or UEFI mode?

Yes, it does work on my other server a Dell system that runs great.  I have turned off every mention of legacy I can find in the bios but it still boots right to bios and as I said if you try to force boot you can see the first unraid screen but then blinks back to bios.

Have you made sure that the USB stick is set up for UEFI boot (in other words there is no trailing ‘~’ character on the EFI folder).

Well two things happened.  One, I forgot there was an NVME drive on the board, it was blocked by another device.  I took it out.  I then reset bios settings and it booted in.  What is odd if I am in bios now and try a force boot with the usb drive labeled as UFI it just flashes back but it is now also listed with all my drives under that as just a drive.  If I force boot that it works fine.  I am working sort of at the moment, thanks for the help.
