GPU passthrough only working with VNC on

I have set a VM up with an nvidia GPU passed through. While it used to work, I changed my from intel to a ryzen platform.

 

The VM won't boot with the passthrough, unless i set VNC as first graphics card and the GTX as second. Is there any reason for this behavior ?
