February 15, 20206 yr HI Guys Just started my journey on Unraid and the help from the community is great. But today 1 of my new 8TB which passed a full preclear has started showing up with an error. I have checked all the cables they are fine I have tried cables that work on other drives, so I know they are fine. I have rechecked they are all seated correctly I am unsure why this has just failed! It say divice is disable contents emanulated click to spin down Has mixed message says passed but shows a Smart Error Edited February 15, 20206 yr by OsoPolar More Info
February 15, 20206 yr Community Expert You should post the diagnostics instead of screenshots, but there's a pending sector so likely a disk problem, you can run an extended SMART test to confirm.

February 15, 20206 yr Author you mean the whole folder? Will this not have APIs of my dockers in them???

No. No docker application template is ever included. Diagnostics are also anonymized by default to prevent things like share names etc from showing to anyone.
February 15, 20206 yr Author here you go please note still running extended test it seems to be stuck on 10% for hours bearcave-diagnostics-20200215-1231.zip
February 16, 20206 yr Community Expert Since in the OP you only mention one disk I didn't notice at first that there are problems with two disks, the pending sector is from disk4, that's the one that looks to be failing, and the syslog confirms it was likely a disk problem., disk3 was already disabled since boot so we can't see what happened, but that one looks fine, extended test takes several hours, also start one for disk4 and when both finish post new diags.
February 16, 20206 yr Author HI Guys Disk 3 is not loading or booting ever since i added disk 4!!! Disk 3 had a short and extended and passed fully Disk 4 passed pre clear but fails instantly on short Smart Test. Latest file added is it possible to get Disk 3 going and then remove disk 4 bearcave-diagnostics-20200216-0905.zip Edited February 16, 20206 yr by OsoPolar

Don't understand what you mean by this, disk is disabled but it's online and looks healthy, on the other hand and like suspected disk4 is really failing. Both disks 3 and 4 look empty, if there's no data there best way forward would be to do a new config without disk4 and sync parity.
February 16, 20206 yr Author my issue is disk 3 has been on my system for over a week no issue. now it is not starting up when i reboot unraid??? How do i get disk 3 to boot up? everything worked great until i added disk4. But the issue this has stopped disk 3 booting!! Edited February 16, 20206 yr by OsoPolar

February 16, 20206 yr Author hi my unraid has been running with no issues for 14 days since i started to build it. Yesterday i added a oldish 2tb drive (disk4) that passed preclear. So i added it and on reboot disk 3 is not loading????
February 16, 20206 yr Community Expert Just now, OsoPolar said: So i added it and on reboot disk 3 is not loading???? Is that after the diags you posted one hour ago?
February 16, 20206 yr Community Expert Like I already mentioned disk3 is just disabled, it still being detected and SMART looks fine, you need to re-enable it, you can't do that by rebuilding on top since disk4 is failing, but if both disks are empty like it looks like, you can just do a new config without disk4 and rebuild parity.

February 16, 20206 yr Community Expert You can select all but then unassign disk4 before starting the array, also check that disk3 is correctly assigned, it should be.
February 16, 20206 yr Author I have some confusion with what Unraid is showing. If i check the drives they are blank but on dashboard they look like data is in them
February 16, 20206 yr Author Also double check with Krusader I do not want to lose any data but looks weird reporting from dashboard
February 16, 20206 yr Community Expert A small amount of space is used when you format a drive to create the structures for an empty file system. The values you highlighted look typical for that.
February 16, 20206 yr Community Expert Yes, a few GB are normal for empty XFS, forgot to mention, it would be a good idea to replace/swap cables on disk3 just to rule them out in case it gets disabled again.
