Identify whats writing to USB

Featured Replies

Is there any way of seeing what's writing to the USB.  I checked earlier today and my system has been up for 9 days since the previous USB stick died and I have 29000 writes to it, I'm not expecting it to be anywhere near this and I'm worried I'm going to have another usb stick failure sooner rather than later.

Thanks.

I would suggest that you post up your Diagnostics file    Tools    >>>    Diagnostics

One of my systems have been up twenty days with 80 writes and the other seventeen days with a 104 writes.  You might want to do a file listing on each folder/directory (sorting by date) on the flash drive and see what files are the newest.  Then watch to find which ones are the most active.  (With an average of 130 writes per hour, I would think you could find out which files are the culprits within ten to fifteen minutes.)

Tracked it down to the Disk Location plugin, it'd reached 36000 writes by yesterday morning, since I removed that plugin there has been no further writes.
