Do i need to update VM's after a hardware change?

Featured Replies

I managed to get a hold of a new CPU (Xeon E5 2690 V2) and installed it, however i wanted to check do i need to make any modifications to the VM and Dockers i had setup prior to this change?

Anything that has pinned cores (VM, dockers, isolscpu) will need to be checked and adjusted accordingly.

VM with passed through devices (e.g. GPU) will definitely need to be adjusted as the device bus almost certainly will be different.

How would i go about adjusting the GPU passthrough, along with USB control devices?

For the GPU, edit xml directly or use the VM template. I prefer editing xml directly since it's usually straight-forward e.g. bus 44 becomes bus 10 or something like that.

USB devices can be done in the xml too but it's more troublesome so I tend to prefer the VM template for that purpose.
