February 24, 20206 yr Tried to add a Blu Ray burner to Win 10 Pro VM, Control Panel>System>Device Manager shows new scsi adapter but cant find drivers for it. What drivers sould I use in Windows 10 Pro? Its an LG drive connected to a sata on the Gigabyte mb, I think its using Marvell controller Unraid sees it, last one on the list SCSI Devices [0:0:0:0]disk Kingston DataTraveler 2.0 PMAP /dev/sda 7.80GB [1:0:0:0]disk ATA Hitachi HDS72404 A3B0 /dev/sdb 4.00TB [2:0:0:0]disk ATA WDC WD60EFRX-68M 0A82 /dev/sdc 6.00TB [3:0:0:0]disk ATA Hitachi HDS72404 A3B0 /dev/sdd 4.00TB [4:0:0:0]disk ATA WDC WD30EFRX-68A 0A80 /dev/sde 3.00TB [5:0:0:0]disk ATA WDC WD30EFRX-68A 0A80 /dev/sdf 3.00TB [7:0:0:0]cd/dvd HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30 1.00 /dev/sr0 - My XML <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='scsi' managed='no'> <source> <adapter name='scsi_host7'/> <address bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </source> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </hostdev> Thanks for any help.
February 24, 20206 yr You must connect the optical drive to the motherboard chipset controller (i.e. NOT 3rd party controller and almost definitely NOT to a Marvell controller) for it to stand a chance of working. And install virtio scsi driver in the virtio driver iso.
February 25, 20206 yr Author Sorry, my mistake. I have a Gigabyte MB, on board it has 6 SATA ports using the intel ICH10R controller and 2 SATA ports using the JMICRON controller. I have moved the LG drive to the Intel controller just in case there are some compatibility issues with JMICRON, now UnRaid is detecting it here [6:0:0:0]cd/dvd HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30 1.00 /dev/sr0 I was using virtio-win-0.1.160-1.iso for initial install of unRaid I have updated to virtio-win-0.1.171 Installed the SCSI controller drivers from it Changed <adapter name='scsi_host6'/> and it started working, it detects the Blu Ray, I can browse the files but I cannot Eject it It says an error occured while ejecting 'BD-RE Drive (F:) Movie Title' The physical eject button on the drive does not work until I shut down the VM Any ideas? Thank you
June 23, 20206 yr Did you every figure this out? I'm curious to try it as well. Did you install the SCSI driver in the Windows VM? I tried to enter that code in my XML (using my on scsi_host) but it always seems to crash my VM.
June 23, 20206 yr Author As far as I could figure it out my CPU (i7-4770K) does not support hardware passthrough, the motherboard says enabled but is grayed out and unraid says disabled. I wasn't happy considering the i7-4770 does allow it and it was cheaper but years ago when I was building my system I wasnt thinking that far ahead
