December 12, 201015 yr I have a 1.5tb WD ears drive that was in my unraid that I now found out about jumping WD ears drives. I not sure which one is pin 7-8 so I follow the photos from this site http://homeservershow.com/wd-ears-drives.html. It shows that pin 7-8 are the 2 closest to the sata connector. Following the directions here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=5536.msg55379#msg55379. When I booted up some of my drives would be missing and if I removed the jumped ears drive they would all come back. The only thing I can think of is, is the photos from the homeservershow.com site showing where pin 7-8 is wrong?
December 12, 201015 yr Or your drive is not one of the "Advanced Format" drives. Friendly advice. Don't mess with the jumpers if the drive is in your array and working. The small performance increase when writing many "small" files to it will not affect most unRAID users who store LARGE files. Joe L.
December 12, 201015 yr Author I removed the jumper and its running data rebuild now and decided just like your advice. It isn't broken so I'm not gonna mess with it anymore. Thanks.
