Hi, I'm building a new Unraid Server.   I can't decide between the AMD 2700X or 3600X.   I plan to run about 2 or 3 VMs and 2 or 3 Docker containers.   My storage will be two 500GB SSD for Cache and four 8TB Red Drives.   Do you what the better CPU for this setup?   Thanks.

8 cores at 3.7GHz is generally better than 6 cores at 3.8GHz.

So I don't see why you can't decide.

The six core 3600x is significantly faster in single and multithread passmark with much better memory support.

 

The only possible case for 2700x is you want to manually allocate cores to vm's.

 

6 fast cores > 8 slow cores
