March 2, 20206 yr Been lurking awhile and figured I should at least say Hi. it's been a short but interesting journey for my Unraid setup, Started with an i7 3930K cpu, but sadly while all documentation shows the i7 was VT-d Compatible the version of the CPU was not. I bought a i7 3820 which was a step down but had VT-d Compatibility. About a week or 2 later I found an old server that was sitting in the bottom of a junk pile that had a Xeon E5 2690 V2 CPU which was compatible with my motherboard and some approvals later it's now in my UnRaid server. The rest of the build Asus p9x79 Pro Motherboard, 32 GB of Ram (8x4 GB) 16 TB storage (4TB for Party, 2 x 4TB and 2 x 2TB in array) 512 SSD Cache AMD 3650 and Nvidia 750 TI GPUs. SilverStone GD08 case with AIO CPU cooler Spent a total of $200 between the case and 750 ti. the i7's are being sold off to recuperate some costs. Now with all this power it's time to play around with VM. i'm not planning to do anything fancy, just have one to run Kodi and Steam Remote Play with GPU out to my TV and another for torrenting as i'm not a big fan of deluge.
