December 14, 201015 yr Hello all, So, after finding out WHS v2 "Vail" is dropping the drive extender, im seriously lookng at unRaid. At the moment, my machine goes to S3 sleep while i am at work (using Lights-Out for WHS) which lets me schedule sleep and wake events for individual days (ie, stays on all day on the weekend) Is that possible to do with unRaid? I have done a test install and can't find anything in the default settings. I read about a program/addon for unRaid which sorta does it, but appears to only offer WOL...not a scheduled wake.
December 14, 201015 yr There is nothing currently that will allow you to do something like what you described above. Something could probably be set up via Cron, but someone with more time than I will have to comment and give some advice. If I get a chance I will put something up that should do what you are looking for.
December 14, 201015 yr Author ok. Just had a quick google, doesn't seem THAT hard to do it manually. One question, does a cron event trigger while in S3 speep???
December 14, 201015 yr Normally latent cron jobs complete after waking. This site describes what you want: http://www.osnews.com/story/24111/Wake_Your_Linux_Up_From_Sleep_for_a_Cron_Job But I don't think that unRAID includes rtcwake. The article says that some BIOS's can do this. Can you change your MO to use WOL?
December 14, 201015 yr Author yea, asked a workmate who knows a little more about linux and i think he's put me in the right direction. I don't actually want to run a script, i just want the machine waking. hopefully this will work http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/ACPI_Wakeup looks very similar to the link you posted. hopefully between the 2 of them i can work it out...not that its a big deal, only 8 hours a day is just nice to have it in S3 while im not home. if i can get it working, and i can work out how to use that menu extender addon you have (can't remember the name) i might even be able to write a GUI for it
