davcollins
I'm trying to create VMs in Unraid and I'm being limited/restricted to 1024 Mb initial and max settings. I have considerably more than that installed, so I was wondering what the issue could be. Quote Link to comment
swallace
What do you mean by restricted? Like Unraid will not even let you click on the options for more RAM in the first place, they're "grey-ed out?" Or do you mean a VM will not start after you configure it to use more than 1024 Mb and it gives you an execution error about memory allocation? If the latter, then you do not currently have enough free memory avalible on the system to provision to the VM in the first place. You may have other VM's or docker containers already using it that you'll need to shut down before this VM will start with the amount of memory you want for it. If it won't let you click on the other options in the first place, when you go to configure the VM, then I'm at a loss and hopefully someone else has some ideas. Quote Link to comment
davcollins
There are no options above 1024 Mb listed. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
Do you really have 1TB of RAM? I'm guessing that's confusing Unraid, probably first user with so much RAM. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
You should create a bug report, my guess is that it's not converting TB to GB, and anyone with >= 1TB of RAM will have this issue. Quote Link to comment

davcollins
So I removed half of the installed RAM (512 GB) and am now presented with options in the VM template to utilize all installed RAM. Thanks @johnnie.black Edited March 11, 2020 by davcollins misspelled word Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
No problem, I expect this to be fixed next release. Quote Link to comment

While waiting for the fix, you should be able to manually edit the RAM amount in the xml instead of using the template. Quote Link to comment

Heinami
As someone with >1TB of RAM, has this been addressed in a release? If not, how does one go about editing the XML for the VM? I imagine I need to create the template first, as nothing shows when I flip it over to XML view. Quote Link to comment
[email protected]
I too have 1 TB of ram and am facing this issue as well. When will this issue be fixed? What release? Or can we get a temporary workaround guide on how to manually edit the XML for each VM? thanks Quote Link to comment
davcollins
Any word on whether this was addressed in the latest release? I tried scanning release notes, but admittedly I'm not sure how or where it would show up. 1 Quote Link to comment
